A closing ceremony was held for the Games, which took place in Krasnoyarsk from 2-5 March.
38 teams from five federal districts of the Russian Federation took part in the XI Winter Sports Games. More than 600 athletes competed for medals in three sports – hockey, skiing and biathlon. Some of the names we heard today were familiar to colleagues, and some appeared for the first time this year. Diplomas, cash certificates, medals and trophies were awarded to the medalists and winners.
The Angara team, Angarsk Petrochemical Company, won the XI Winter Sports Games. The team motto is «Only forward! And only together!» is confirmed by deeds – it is one of Rosneft's strongest sports teams, which has become a champion 12 times and a winner of the Company's Summer and Winter Games 6 times since 2012. The Ufaorgsintez team took silver in the team competition, with bronze going to Udmurtneft.
Ufaorgsintez, Verkhnechonskneftegaz and Angara finished first, second and third respectively in the Major Hockey League. And the RN-Fire Safety team won the First Hockey League.
In the mixed cross-country skiing relay, Udmurtneft, Angara and Bashneft-Perererabotka took first, second and third place respectively. This year, many teams have tried their hand at biathlon for the first time. As a result, Kuibyshev Refinery came first in the biathlon mixed relay, Yuganskneftegaz came second and Bashneft-Perererabotka came third.
The judges did not limit themselves to counting the points in the main categories. The teams were rewarded for their discipline, originality and perseverance. Samotlorneftegaz was recognised as the most progressive team, Tyumen Petroleum Research Centre as the most disciplined, and KC Bashneft as the best debutant.
The best players were also nominated. Thus, Kirill Shuvarov from RN-Komsomolsk Refinery became the best goalkeeper in the First Hockey League, Sergey Semenov from Saratov Refinery became the best defender and Sergey Verevkin from Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz became the best forward. In the major leagues, Stanislav Gromakov of RN-Vankor was the best goalkeeper, Konstantin Skorobogatov of Angarsk Polymer Plant was the best defender and Timur Yannurov of Ufaorgsintez was the best forward.
Although not all of the thirty-eight teams were winners and runners-up, the atmosphere at the awards ceremony was welcoming and friendly. There were many kind words from the stage. But all the speakers agreed on one thing: the Games themselves are a great victory. And all the participants are already champions, making Rosneft even stronger and more united.
