RN-Nyaganneftegaz Allocates More Than 700 Million Roubles for Environment-Oriented Projects in 2021

18 February 2022

RN-Nyaganneftegaz, an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s oil and gas production complex, invested more than 700 million roubles in environment-oriented and restoration measures over 2021. The funds are earmarked for the gas programme, improving pipeline reliability, land reclamation and increasing the efficiency of industrial waste management.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production.

At the fields of RN-Nyaganneftegaz, the levels of greenhouse gases are constantly monitored using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UAVs spent more than 945 hours in the air, making 430 flyovers and surveying about 40,000 kilometres of pipelines and oil and gas production facilities, in 2021. The use of UAVs ensures continuous environmental monitoring throughout the enterprises’ fields in all weather conditions.

The enterprise fully utilises its drilling waste with the use of modern technologies that passed state environmental expertise. Secondary products obtained in the process of industrial oily waste utilisation are re-involved in the technological process. RN-Nyaganneftegaz has recycled more than 55,000 tonnes of oily waste and about 100,000 tonnes of drilling waste and remediated over 29 hectares of land in 2021.

Technical and biological stages of remediation of oil-contaminated heritage land are carried out with the help of modern specialised equipment, using various agrotechnical and phytomeliorative techniques, aimed at recreating the flora and fauna of the county. The restoration of soil fertility is carried out with the use of degraders.

RN-Nyaganneftegaz released more than 1 million fry of red-listed fish species, muksun and Siberian sturgeon, into
water bodies of Tyumen Region and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District—Yugra during the spring and summer period of 2021. The artificial stocking of Russian reservoirs with fish is carried out as part of the implementation of Rosneft Oil Company’s strategic tasks in environmental protection, including a set of measures for ecosystems and biodiversity protection and restoration of natural resources.

As a result of the gas programme, RN-Nyaganneftegaz has managed to exceed a 94% level of APG utilisation.

The enterprise’s employees took part in ecological projects and campaigns in 2021. It resulted in greenification of Nyagan’s central park, kindergartens and adjacent territories.
